Ipods For All?

This is more of a "I want comments" post than a "you're gonna laugh" post. According to the linked article, Real Networks has issue with Apple, primarily because the Ipod only works with ITunes. My question is: does anyone really care? If you have an Ipod, good for you. If you have a Windows-based MP3 player and you spent many nights researching why it was a better product than an Ipod (as there are many), good for you too. Personally, I could not care less if Apple makes the Ipod compatible with other music downloading services, because I don't download music.

Just a side note:

As of today, these companies are listed with the share price, daily gain, and percent increase. Notice how Apple stock is worth about 2.67 times more than Microsoft stock?
* Apple Computer, Inc. 74.25 2.43 (3.38%)
* Microsoft Corporation 27.75 -0.10 (-0.36%)
* RealNetworks, Inc. 8.85 -0.01 (-0.11%)

i boycott ipod. i bought a creative zen sleek 20 gig with built in microphone and fm radio for less than the 20 gig ipod costs, which comes with none of those features. my brother on the other hand likes to support itunes, without the use of an ipod. i think the entity of mp3 players is a little extreme and people should just buy the one they think looks nice and holds the amount of music they need. the end.

I agree with experience. Real sucks, they are using tactics of many shitty productless companies to prevent their obsoletion... the courts. SCO did it,they sued linux gpl, because they bought rights to Unix System V at a time when linux was becoming a very realistic option for companies (why pay hundreds for something you can get for free?). I like apple and I like iPods and I think iTunes is a great idea. Check out emusic.com its pretty neat, you have full ownership of the music you download, without DRM. The only issue is there is a much smaller collection of music available.
