First Look: Nintendo Revolution

The latest issue of Game Informer magazine has an exclusive first look at the upcoming Nintendo Revolution console. They don't show you the console straight up, it's more of a third-party look via the developers of signature FPS launch title "Red Steel." The screenshots provided in the magazine are pretty impressive, but I was hoping for a more Nintendo-themed launch title like Super Smash Brothers or Mario, something like that. I'm sure Red Steel will be sweet though.

Like the Xbox 360 and PS3, this console is going to be mucho expensive and probably won't be available when it is released later this year. But it looks SO COOL. I'm interested to see how the new motion-sensitive controller plays...but the only place I'll be able to find out is at Best Buy, if they even have the console in stock when it launches.

Red Steel looks pretty bad ass, its strange that it's the first offical announced game, even if Nintendo has had a lot of involvement in its devolopment. Nintendo has had a strangly tight lipped attitude when it's come to their revolution games, refusing to show any images or confirm titles let alone release dates. But they have confirmed 20 games will be ready for the "launch window" (ie: first month of the systems arrival) one third of which will be developed and/or published by nintendo themselves. A new mario platformer, a new online super smash bros. and metroid prime three are all very likely to be out within a month of the revolution's release. So at E3 they will atleast be showing videos for those games, if not a bunch of playable demos. Also Nintendo has been coyishly hinting about an additional hidden feature that should add to the revolutionary aspects to their new system. They've also been on the record mentioning how they will price the system below the competition, I'll be surprised to see the new Nintendo system over $250.

one reference and a link about red steel.
